Maria Pelizzari, Owner
The idea for Fork, Knife, Spoon Cooking came from Maria Pelizzari’s love of children and cooking, her experience in teaching both adults and children, but mostly it came from her love of eating fresh, healthy, good food!

Both children and adults will have educational, practical, hands-on cooking experiences and a whole lot of good old fashioned fun!  These sessions are designed to teach them the importance of fresh nutritious ingredients, of the highest quality in their everyday lives. “Children who take part in cooking and what goes into it, develop self-confidence and a knowledge of healthy eating practices that they can carry with them for a lifetime,” explains Maria.

Formerly a Kindergarten teacher in Westchester NY, Maria’s passion for food, children and teaching inspired her to leave her teaching position and start her own business. At Fork, Knife, Spoon Cooking she carries with her the same enthusiasm and fundamentals that she brought to the classroom. Maria has been working as a personal chef for many years as well. She grew up in a house where new foods were always being tried along with a mother who always cooked well balanced, healthy, fresh, and delicious meals. The two continue to bounce recipe ideas off one another to this day and are often each other’s own food critics. Maria shares, “My path in life was inevitable.  I grew up with a family of great cooks who created great food and have always been interested in having a career that involved food in some way.”

Maria lives in a charming antique home, ca.1750, in Wilton, CT with her husband and three year old son, who is quickly developing his own love for cooking and eating good food.  She is an avid gardener and grows an organic vegetable garden during the summer for which she credits her father who was a landscape architect with an unbelievable green thumb. “As long as I could remember, my father always had a large vegetable garden with a wide variety of both common and unusual vegetables. We would grow something new each year to try a new taste and I worked in it from the time I was able to walk on my own.”
